(WNY News Now) – Ellicott – Robbie M. Stearns, a 29-year-old resident of Frewsburg, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree on August 24th, 2024. The incident unfolded when officers from the Town of Ellicott Police Department responded to a reported shoplifting at a store in West Ellicott.

Upon arriving at the scene, police apprehended Stearns for allegedly taking items from the store. During a search incident to his arrest, officers discovered a debit card in Stearns’ possession that had been reported stolen.

Stearns was subsequently issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to respond to the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
