(WNY News Now) – Silver Creek – A Silver Creek man faces serious charges after a late-night incident involving endangerment of a minor.

In the early hours of August 30, 2024, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a disorderly individual on Main Street in the Village of Silver Creek. Upon arrival, deputies identified the suspect as 39-year-old Edwin A. Ernst, a local resident.

During their investigation, officers determined that Ernst had engaged in behavior that posed a significant risk to a child under the age of seventeen. Ernst was promptly arrested and charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Following his arrest, Ernst was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he awaits arraignment through the Centralized Arraignment Program in the Town of Hanover. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
