(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo, NY, has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of Western New York, including Lewis, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties. This advisory is in effect from 12:00 AM EDT on Monday, September 2, until 9:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 3.

Residents in the affected areas can expect temperatures to drop into the mid to upper 30s, which may lead to the formation of frost. This sudden cold snap poses a risk to sensitive outdoor vegetation, which could be damaged or killed if not properly protected.

The NWS urges homeowners and gardeners to take immediate precautions. Steps such as covering plants with cloths, bringing potted plants indoors, or using frost blankets are recommended to safeguard tender vegetation from the cold.
