(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk – A routine traffic stop on North Main Street led to the arrest of a Florida man for driving while intoxicated.

On the evening of August 29, 2024, around 8:52 PM, deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street in Dunkirk after observing multiple traffic violations. The driver, identified as 50-year-old Daniel S. Wollaston of Venice, Florida, failed to stop at a stop sign and did not use a turn signal.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Wollaston was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Operating with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) above the legal limit of .08%. Wollaston will face these charges in Dunkirk Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
