(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, N.Y. – A 48-year-old Jamestown woman faces felony drug charges after being apprehended with 211.7 grams of methamphetamine following a brief foot pursuit on Newland Ave.
On the evening of September 11, 2024, at approximately 8:57 PM, Jamestown Police officers from the K-9 Unit observed Lisa M. Tibbetts, a resident of Jamestown, in the front passenger seat of a vehicle near the intersection of Newland Avenue and Foote Avenue. Officers were aware of an outstanding warrant for Tibbetts issued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, tied to a previous charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree, an A-II felony, as well as a bench warrant from Jamestown City Court.
As officers prepared to initiate a traffic stop, Tibbetts exited the vehicle and allegedly attempted to flee on foot. After a short chase and brief struggle, she was apprehended. A subsequent search of her belongings revealed 211.7 grams of methamphetamine—nearly half a pound—concealed in her purse.
Given the significant quantity of drugs and Tibbetts’ attempt to evade arrest, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. Tibbetts remains in custody, pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
