(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lawrence Foggie, 66, of Buffalo, NY, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking and being a felon in possession of a firearm. If convicted, Foggie faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, as announced by U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross.
On September 6, 2024, Buffalo Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) acted on a tip regarding an individual armed with a firearm near Main and E. Utica Streets. Upon arrival, officers identified Foggie based on the provided description. Despite verbal commands to stop, Foggie revealed he had a pistol permit and a firearm in his backpack. He was promptly taken into custody. A search of Foggie’s backpack yielded a loaded .38 caliber revolver, 3.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine, pills, and drug paraphernalia.
Foggie’s criminal history includes a felony conviction from July 2016 in Erie County Court, which legally bars him from possessing firearms.
Foggie made his initial court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr. and remains in custody. The investigation was conducted by the Buffalo Police Department, led by Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia, and the ATF, under Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller.
As with all criminal charges, the presumption of innocence remains until proven guilty in a court of law.
