(WNY News Now) – LAKEWOOD, NY — In celebration of National Seat Check Saturday, a free car seat safety inspection event will be held on Saturday, September 21st, from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Rock Church parking lot, located at 35 W. Fairmount Ave. The event is hosted by the Chautauqua Safety Village in collaboration with The Rock Church, Jamestown Police Department, Lakewood-Busti Police Department, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on-site to assist parents and caregivers in properly installing and adjusting car seats, ensuring children’s safety during travel. The event is part of a nationwide initiative, offering these services free of charge to help prevent accidents and injuries related to improper car seat use.
According to Jessica Dayton, Executive Director of the Chautauqua Safety Village, “Even if you believe your child’s car seat is installed correctly, it’s worth stopping by for a double-check to ensure maximum safety.”
In addition to car seat inspections, The Rock Church will provide family-friendly entertainment, including a bounce house, refreshments, and activities for children.
Technicians at the event are certified through Safe Kids Worldwide and are trained to ensure car seats are correctly installed and fit each child appropriately. The event is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through a grant from the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
