(WNY News Now) – Syracuse – In the early hours of September 14, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Syracuse Police officers responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of S. Salina Street and W. Fayette Street. The crash involved a motorbike and a vehicle, leading to a fatality.

According to the Syracuse Police Department’s Traffic Section, 20-year-old Dante Sloma was riding a motorbike southbound on S. Salina Street, which was not legally permitted on public roadways. As he proceeded through the intersection, a northbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto W. Fayette Street, colliding with Sloma.

Sloma suffered severe injuries and was transported to Upstate University Hospital for emergency treatment. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries the following afternoon.

Police confirmed that impairment was not a factor in the crash, and no citations have been issued at this time. The Traffic Section continues to investigate the incident, seeking further details. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact them at 315-442-5130.
