(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A Jamestown woman faces multiple charges after allegedly damaging property and injuring a dog during a domestic dispute.

On the evening of September 26, 2024, at approximately 5:13 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon responded to a reported domestic incident on the city’s west side. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Chelsea Durnell, a 30-year-old resident of Jamestown, had damaged property belonging to a victim who was present at the scene.

As Durnell was being escorted to a patrol vehicle without incident, she unexpectedly kicked the victim’s dog in the head and neck area. The dog reportedly showed signs of pain and fear as a result of the unprovoked attack.

Durnell was promptly taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown Police Department. She faces charges of Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree and a violation of Agricultural and Markets Law related to overdriving, torturing, and injuring an animal.

Durnell is currently being held in Jamestown City Jail and is awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
