(WNY News Now) – The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will be represented by Anas Mangla, Director of Outreach, at the Community Missions’ Annual Interfaith Prayer Service on October 8th at 4:00 PM.
Niagara Falls, NY — The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is honored to announce that Anas Mangla, Director of Outreach for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, will be speaking at the upcoming Community Missions’ Annual Interfaith Prayer Service for the National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Awareness and Understanding. The event will take place on October 8th at 4:00 PM at Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, 166 59th Street, Niagara Falls.
This year’s service, in its 14th year, will focus on raising awareness about mental health and ending the stigma surrounding mental illness. In addition, there will be a special focus on Dual Diagnosis, addressing the often-overlooked connection between mental illness and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The interfaith service will feature representatives from a variety of faith traditions, offering their perspectives on this critical issue.
Anas Mangla, speaking on behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, will deliver remarks on the Islamic perspective of mental health, addiction, and the importance of compassionate care for those struggling with these issues. His speech will highlight the teachings of Islam regarding the holistic care of both body and soul, the removal of stigma, and the necessity of providing support for those suffering from mental illness and addiction.
“The teachings of Islam emphasize the inherent dignity of every individual, regardless of their condition. It is our duty as a community to help those who are struggling, whether they are battling mental health challenges or addiction,” said Mangla. “By fostering understanding and compassion, we can help break the cycle of stigma and ensure that people seek the help they need.”
Drawing on the writings of the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him), and the sermons of the Caliphs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mangla will outline how faith and prayer can offer solace, while also advocating for medical treatment. He will emphasize the power of community support in overcoming both mental illness and addiction, and the importance of viewing these conditions with empathy rather than judgment.
The event will conclude with a closing prayer by the host pastor, and a reception will follow where resources on mental health treatment, addiction recovery programs, and self-help practices will be made available to attendees.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, a revivalist movement within Islam, is committed to promoting peace, interfaith dialogue, and community service. As part of its ongoing outreach efforts, the community works to raise awareness about important social issues such as mental health, and partners with other faith and secular organizations to foster greater understanding and compassion.
