(WNY News Now) – Authorities have identified the man found deceased during a fire response on Ashdale Avenue, with the investigation still actively unfolding.
Syracuse, N.Y. – The Syracuse Fire Department has confirmed the identity of the deceased male found in a residence on Ashdale Avenue as 38-year-old Richard Lumley. The discovery was made during a routine emergency call after a smoke detector activated early Wednesday morning, October 9th.
Firefighters were dispatched to the home in the 200 block of Ashdale Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Upon entering the premises, they found Lumley unresponsive and deceased. Investigators from both the Syracuse Fire Department and Syracuse Police Department remain at the scene, continuing their investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.
While details about the cause of death and the fire’s source have not yet been confirmed, authorities stress that the investigation is ongoing and active. The community is urged to remain vigilant as more information will be released once available.
