(WNY News Now) – A suspicious person call turned into a foot chase and arrest in Jamestown, where a man with outstanding warrants tried to evade police.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On October 16, 2024, at approximately 11:35 AM, a Jamestown Police Department K9 officer spotted a man acting suspiciously behind houses between Barrows Street and Allen Street. The officer attempted to approach the individual to determine his reason for trespassing, but the man fled on foot towards Allen Street.

The officer, with the support of additional officers from the First Platoon, managed to catch up with the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old William El Blakey of Jamestown. During the encounter, Blakey provided officers with a false name in an attempt to hide his identity, but it was soon revealed that he had outstanding warrants from the City of Jamestown.

Blakey was arrested and charged with Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree. He was transported to the City Jail, where he is currently being held pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
