(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown woman faces a petit larceny charge following an alleged shoplifting incident in the Town of Ellicott.
Ellicott, N.Y. – Ashley N. Gorton, 39, of Jamestown, was charged with petit larceny after an alleged shoplifting incident on Friday morning, November 17. According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, officers responded to a complaint at a local store around 11:14 a.m.
Investigators allege that Gorton removed a pair of gym shoes from the store without paying. Following the incident, she was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to address the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
