(WNY News Now) – A Child Protective Services (CPS) home check uncovered disturbing living conditions on Jamestown’s west side, leading to the arrest of two adults for endangering three children.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On November 22, 2024, at 12:37 PM, Jamestown Police Department officers from the First Platoon responded to a request for assistance from Child Protective Services (CPS) at a residence on the city’s west side.

CPS officials conducting a routine home check found deplorable living conditions that posed a significant risk to the children in the household. The Department of Development (DOD) was subsequently contacted to address the unhealthy environment.

Following the investigation, officers arrested 25-year-old Fernando Mojica Reyes and 37-year-old Mariangel Velazquez Rosario. Both individuals were charged with three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor offense.

The children’s welfare is now under the care of CPS, and efforts are underway to assess and rectify the living situation. Both adults were held at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment and later released. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
