(WNY News Now) – Lockport, NY – A Code Blue alert has been issued in Lockport, NY, starting Tuesday, November 26, and will remain in effect through 8 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2024, due to overnight temperatures expected to dip below freezing throughout the period.

Mayor Lombardi announced the extension of this emergency measure to protect vulnerable residents from the harsh weather conditions.

During the Code Blue period, homeless individuals or those without heat can access shelter assistance at the following locations:

  • Salvation Army: Open from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. for direct assistance.
  • Lockport Police Department Walk-Up Window (Niagara Street Entrance): Open after 10 p.m. to provide guidance and assistance for shelter needs.

Residents are encouraged to spread the word to those in need and reach out if they encounter someone who requires help during the freezing temperatures.
