(WNY News Now) – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Northern Erie County, forecasting over 7 inches of lake-effect snow that could significantly disrupt travel.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo, NY, has issued a Winter Storm Watch effective from Saturday morning, November 30, through late Sunday night, December 1. This alert warns of the potential for heavy lake-effect snow with accumulations exceeding 7 inches in localized areas.

Travelers and residents in Northern Erie County should prepare for hazardous conditions as roadways may become snow-covered and slick. Narrow bands of heavy snowfall could cause rapidly changing road conditions and severely reduced visibility, increasing the risk of accidents.

“Localized travel problems will be possible,” the NWS stated, urging drivers to exercise caution and plan ahead for potentially significant delays. Essential errands and travel should be completed before the weekend, as conditions are expected to worsen.
