(WNY News Now) – Authorities in Chautauqua County have charged a Jamestown man with criminal contempt for allegedly violating a stay-away order of protection while incarcerated.

On December 3, 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM, an investigation at the Chautauqua County Jail revealed that inmate Tarice A. Echevarria, 25, of Jamestown, NY, allegedly made repeated phone contact with an individual who is protected by a court-issued stay-away order of protection against him.

The investigation determined that Echevarria had made numerous attempts to contact the protected party, despite the legally binding restriction. Following the findings, he was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor offense under New York State law.

Echevarria is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court for further proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
