(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop on East 2nd and Winsor Street led to the arrest of a Jamestown resident on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance and an outstanding assault warrant.
JAMESTOWN, NY — On the evening of December 7, 2024, at approximately 5:02 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd platoon initiated a vehicle and traffic stop on Winsor Street after observing several traffic violations.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Duane R. Crawford 3rd, a Jamestown resident, was known to law enforcement due to an active arrest warrant for Assault in the 3rd degree. Upon confirming Crawford’s identity, officers took him into custody.
During a search incident to the arrest, officers discovered a controlled substance in Crawford’s possession. As a result, he now faces additional charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree.
Crawford was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. Charges include the outstanding assault warrant, possession of a controlled substance, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
