(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop on North Main Street led to the arrest of a Jamestown woman for driving while intoxicated.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On December 7, 2024, at approximately 4:10 a.m., Jamestown Police conducted a traffic stop near 518 North Main Street, outside a 7-Eleven store. Officers from the third platoon observed a vehicle with multiple traffic violations, including operating without headlights.

Upon further investigation, the driver, identified as 37-year-old Crystal L. Cavness, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Cavness was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where her blood alcohol content (BAC) exceeded the legal limit of 0.08%.

Cavness now faces several charges, including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI Per Se (BAC over 0.08%), open container violations, and operating a vehicle without headlights. She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
