(WNY News Now) – With only weeks remaining in its 2024 Fundraising Campaign, the United Way of Chautauqua County (UWCC) has reached 62% of its $1.8 million goal, but organizers say there’s still much work to be done to ensure success.

With only weeks remaining in their 2024 Fundraising Campaign, the United Ways of Chautauqua County (UWCC) have reached 62% of the set $1.8 million goal for this year.

“We are thrilled with where we’re at right now, but there is still much work to be done,” said UWCC Executive Director Amy Rohler. “This campaign isn’t just about reaching a dollar amount—it’s about strengthening our community. Working together means increased capacity, innovation and impact across Chautauqua County. We’re counting on our community to help us cross the finish line.”

This year marks a milestone for the agency, as it is the first-ever countywide fundraising campaign – which comes as a result of the successful merger earlier this year. As separate organizations last year, the two United Ways were able to raise a combined $1.6 million. For the 2024 campaign, a stretch goal of $1.8 million has been set.

Co-chaired this year by Kelly Borrello and Bill Soffel, the campaign’s theme, “Stronger Together,” emphasizes the power of collective giving to create lasting positive change in the community. As an impact organization, UWCC is focused on mobilizing resources and partnerships to improve the lives of children, families and seniors throughout the county.

Gifts made to United Way go to support 48 local programs facilitated by 34 partner agencies. Last year alone, United Way programs impacted the lives of local residents 32,991 times. The generous contributions made by local donors are necessary each year to continue funding those much-needed programs and services.

The time to give is now, and individuals can contribute to the campaign’s success by texting “STRONGERCHQ” to 91999 or by sending in a check to the Jamestown or Dunkirk office.

Workplaces and employers interested in running an office payroll pledge campaign should contact Communications and Campaign Coordinator Nick Dean by calling 716-483-1561 or emailing ndean@uwayscc.org.

Currently, more than 120 workplaces run payroll pledge campaigns, including school districts, local manufacturers, grocery stores, insurance agencies and other workplaces. Giving through payroll deduction opens up charitable giving to everyone, as it allows employees to donate a small sum from their paycheck each week.

Nearly two-thirds of the way to goal, United Way is calling on local individuals and businesses to help close the gap. 100% of every dollar contributed remains local in Chautauqua County, with the bulk of donations funding essential programs which bolster community resiliency, health, youth opportunity and financial security.
