(WNY News Now) – An 89-year-old man was injured in a hit-and-run incident on Derby Road Monday evening, and police are seeking the public’s help to identify the driver who fled the scene.

Evans police are investigating a hit-and-run incident in which an 89-year-old man was struck while standing at his mailbox on Monday, December 16. The collision occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m. in front of 7380 Derby Road, leaving the elderly man with arm, leg, and back injuries. He was immediately transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.

The vehicle involved in the incident, of an unknown make and model, was last seen heading west on Derby Road toward Sturgeon Point Road. Police are working to piece together further details and ask anyone with information to come forward.

Evidence collected at the scene, including pieces of what is believed to be the passenger side mirror of the vehicle, may aid in the investigation. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact the Evans Police Department at 716-549-3600.
