(WNY News Now) – With overnight temperatures forecasted to dip below freezing, Lockport Mayor Michelle Lombardi has extended a Code Blue alert through December 23 to protect the city’s most vulnerable residents.

As freezing temperatures settle over Lockport, a Code Blue alert has been declared to ensure that those without shelter or heat have a safe place to stay. Beginning Thursday, December 19, and continuing until 8 a.m. Monday, December 23, the City of Lockport will activate emergency measures to provide assistance to individuals in need.

During this period, homeless individuals or those lacking adequate heating can seek shelter at the Salvation Army between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. For those arriving after 10 p.m., assistance will be available at the walk-up window of the Lockport Police Department, located on the Niagara Street entrance.
