Travis Rosario, 51, received a sentence of 90 days in jail, followed by five years of probation, after striking a pedestrian on February 27, 2024, at approximately 4:56 a.m. near Genesee Street on Luiz Kahl Way in Cheektowaga. Rosario, who failed to report the accident, fled the scene, leaving the victim, a 44-year-old male from Williamsville, with serious injuries, including a head trauma and multiple fractures.

The victim was transported to ECMC for medical treatment. Rosario was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Serious Injury, a Class E felony, to which he pleaded guilty in September 2024. Not offered a reduced charge, he admitted to the highest possible offense.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane praised the work of the NFTA Police Department and Erie County Sheriff’s Office in bringing Rosario to justice. Assistant District Attorney Christopher M. McCarthy of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau handled the prosecution.
