(WNY News Now) – A Freedom man was taken into custody by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office on a Family Court warrant on December 14th, 2024.
Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb reported the arrest of Evan W. Hettinger, 40, of Freedom, New York, on December 14, 2024. Hettinger was apprehended at approximately 6:22 AM at 9761 Route 16, Machias, following the execution of a Family Court warrant.
The arrest was carried out with the assistance of the New York State Police. After being taken into custody, Hettinger was arraigned in Franklinville Town Court before Judge Holden. He was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or a $2,500 bond.
Hettinger is scheduled for future appearances in Cattaraugus County Family Court to address the matters outlined in the warrant. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
