(WNY News Now) – A late-night shooting on West Newell Street has left a 35-year-old man injured, prompting an active police investigation in Syracuse.

SYRACUSE, NY – Early Saturday morning, December 21, 2024, Syracuse Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Newell Street following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival around 1:44 a.m., officers located a 35-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdominal area and leg.

Emergency medical responders from American Medical Response transported the victim to Upstate Hospital. According to police, his injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening.

The Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be provided by calling (315) 442-5222.
