(WNY News Now) – A late-night fire on Church Street in Sherman has been traced to a wood stove, resulting in a total loss of a residential garage.
SHERMAN, NY – On December 21, 2024, at approximately 9:17 p.m., multiple fire departments rushed to the scene of a garage fire at 123 Church Street in Sherman. The blaze, which was quickly brought under control, resulted in the total destruction of the garage.
Firefighters called upon the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team to determine the fire’s origin and cause. After a thorough investigation, officials concluded that the fire was sparked by a wood-burning stove placed too close to combustible materials. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
