(WNY News Now) – Destiny USA reopened after a temporary closure prompted by a specific and actionable threat, culminating in the arrest of a Syracuse man.

Syracuse, NY—Darrell Anderson Navedo, 50, of Syracuse, has been charged with one count of Making a Terroristic Threat following an investigation into a credible threat targeting Destiny USA mall on Friday morning.

According to the Syracuse Police Department, the threat prompted swift action in collaboration with local, state, and federal partners, as well as mall management. The mall temporarily suspended operations as law enforcement worked to ensure the safety of employees, tenants, and visitors.

Police confirmed that Navedo was taken into custody without incident. Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat, and Destiny USA has since reopened.

Despite the seriousness of the threat, no evacuation or shelter-in-place order was issued; instead, the mall delayed its opening.
