(WNY News Now) – A routine vehicle mishap turned into an arrest after Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a passenger had an active bench warrant.
On December 24, 2024, at approximately 1:24 PM, deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a vehicle stuck in a snowbank along Route 438 in Gowanda, New York. Upon arrival, they identified one of the vehicle’s passengers as James K. Williams, 35, of Perrysburg.
A routine check revealed that Williams had an outstanding warrant issued by the Cattaraugus County Court. Deputies arrested him at the scene without incident. Williams was transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
