(WNY News Now) – In an effort funded by New York State, Buffalo Police tracked and recovered a stolen SUV, apprehending four suspects without incident.

BUFFALO, NY — The Buffalo Police Department arrested four individuals on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in connection with a stolen Mercedes SUV. The arrests were made possible through a special detail funded by the New York State Motor Vehicle Theft Grant.

The incident began on December 23, when the SUV was reported stolen from a residence on Fleming Street. Police used license plate readers and assistance from the Erie County Sheriff’s Air 1 helicopter to trace the vehicle’s movements. On December 26, the vehicle was located and recovered on Waverly Street.

Four suspects were taken into custody without incident. Among them, Narrsson Boyd-Halsey, 29, of Buffalo, faced enhanced charges due to a prior unauthorized use of a vehicle conviction. Boyd-Halsey was also found in possession of a small quantity of suspected crack cocaine at the time of his arrest.

Boyd-Halsey was charged with:

• Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (NYS PL 165.50), a Class D felony.
• Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the Second Degree (NYS PL 165.06), a Class E felony.
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (NYS PL 220.03), a Class A misdemeanor.

The other suspects, identified as Donyale Jackson, 25; Deyonta Ragland, 31; and Danielle Ruger, 32, of Hamburg, were charged with:

• Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (NYS PL 165.50), a Class D felony.
• Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the Third Degree (NYS PL 165.05-1), a Class A misdemeanor.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
