(WNY News Now) – This holiday season, law enforcement ramps up efforts to combat impaired driving, with a focus on saving lives and raising awareness.
Chautauqua County Sheriff James B. Quattrone announced today that local law enforcement agencies and STOP-DWI Coordinators are participating in the statewide STOP-DWI Holiday Season High Visibility Engagement Campaign. This initiative, which began on December 11, 2024, and runs through January 1, 2025, aims to reduce impaired driving incidents during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
The campaign, part of a broader effort by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, leverages increased visibility and public awareness to deter drunk and impaired driving. Similar campaigns are conducted statewide during Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Super Bowl.
Motorists are encouraged to use resources like the “Have a Plan” mobile app, which offers tools to find safe rides home, available at www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp.
