(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was arrested early this morning for obstructing police efforts during a domestic dispute investigation on the city’s North Side.

At approximately 1:25 AM on January 1, 2025, Jamestown police responded to reports of a domestic dispute occurring in the street on the North Side. Officers from the Third Platoon arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.

As the officers worked to handle the situation, 19-year-old Zachary Hamby, a Jamestown resident, arrived at the location and approached the officers in an aggressive manner. According to police reports, Hamby then shoved one of the officers during the investigation, escalating the situation.

Despite attempts by officers to de-escalate the encounter, Hamby continued to resist, prompting law enforcement to place him under arrest. Hamby was subsequently transported to the City Jail for processing.

After his arrest, Hamby was released on an appearance ticket and is expected to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. He is facing charges of Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
