(WNY News Now) – A 37-year-old Dunkirk resident faces grand larceny and stolen property charges following an investigation by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

BROCTON, NY – On December 21, 2024, deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported larceny in the Town of Portland. The investigation led to the arrest of Jose Ruiz Jr., 37, of Dunkirk, who was accused of stealing property belonging to another individual.

Ruiz has been charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree. He was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in Portland Town Court at a later date.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
