(WNY News Now) – Randolph, NY – A routine traffic stop on I-86 East in Randolph led to the arrest of a 24-year-old man wanted on an active warrant.

On the morning of January 6, 2025, New York State Park Police apprehended Austin J. Harkins during a traffic stop. Harkins, who was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, was taken into custody without incident.

Following his apprehension, Harkins was transferred to deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office. He was subsequently transported to the Town of Persia Court for arraignment. During the proceedings, the court released Harkins on his own recognizance.

Harkins is required to appear in Perrysburg Town Court at a later date to address the charges associated with the warrant.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
