KENNEDY, NY — On January 12, 2025, at approximately 2:35 a.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash near Exit 14 on Interstate 86. Deputies arriving on the scene encountered the vehicle’s operator, identified as 46-year-old Nicholas Bohdanowycz of Olean, New York.
Authorities reported that Bohdanowycz initially refused verbal commands to exit his vehicle, necessitating assistance from deputies to remove him. During the process, he continued to resist compliance, prompting an obstructing charge.
Bohdanowycz was medically evaluated on-site before being released into custody. He was transported to the Chautauqua County Centralized Arraignment Program and charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second degree. He also faces several vehicle and traffic-related charges, including driving while intoxicated (DWI), speeding not reasonable and prudent, and unsafe lane movement.
The case has been referred to the Town of Poland Court, where Bohdanowycz will appear at a later date to address the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
