(WNY News Now) – Rochester’s longest-running juried art exhibition is back, offering regional artists a chance to showcase their work and compete for prestigious awards.

Call for Submissions: 69th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery

Rochester, NY —The Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) is excited to announce the call for submissions for the 69th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition (RFLX), Rochester’s longest-running juried showcase of works by artists from Western and Central New York. This biennial exhibition will be on view in the MAG’s Docent Gallery from June 28, through October 5, 2025. RFLX highlights the creativity and talent of regional artists working across all media. In previous years, the MAG’s permanent collection acquired select works accepted into the Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition. Timothy Peterson, MAG’s inaugural Ann and Irving Norry Curator of Contemporary Art, will serve as the juror for this year’s exhibition. “I am honored to serve as juror for the 69th RFLX exhibition,” says Peterson. “I greatly appreciate the opportunity, early in my tenure at MAG, to be introduced to the work of each applicant.” 

Eligible entries must have been completed within the past two years by artists (age 18+) residing in one of 27 counties in western and central New York: Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Genesee, Erie, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming, or Yates.

How to Submit Your Artwork 









Artists are invited to submit their work online between January 10, 2025, and February 16, 2025. Visit artist.callforentry.org to create an account, review submission requirements, and upload your work for consideration. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your talent and be part of a celebrated tradition of regional art excellence. 

Participating artists will have the opportunity to compete for prestigious awards, including:

  • Memorial Art Gallery Award: Award of Excellence, selected by the juror ($1,500)
  • Alice E. Koret/Docent Award: In memory of Alice E. Koret, selected by a MAG docent ($1,000)
  • Gertrude Herdle Moore/Isabel Herdle Award: Given by the Gallery Council of the MAG, selected by the juror ($500)
  • Ida and Elmer Louis Award: In memory of Mr. and Mrs. Louis, selected by the juror ($600)
  • Arthur and Ronan Christopher Louis Award ($500)
  • Suressa H. Forbes Memorial Award: Given by her daughter, Elizabeth J. Forbes ($500)
  • Harris Popular Vote Award: Determined by visitor votes during the first two weeks of the exhibition ($500)

About the Memorial Art Gallery

The Memorial Art Gallery showcases art from antiquity to the present day, including the outdoor public Centennial Sculpture Park. In addition to its permanent collection, MAG offers a year-round schedule of special exhibitions, lectures, concerts, tours, after-hours social events, and family activities.

Hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 11 am–5 pm, and until 9 pm on Thursdays. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Admission: $20; senior citizens, $18; college students with ID and children 6–18, $9. Always free to members,
