(WNY News Now) – A fire early Tuesday morning in the Town of Ripley resulted in the loss of livestock and property, with investigators ruling the incident accidental due to electrical issues.

RIPLEY, NY — On January 14, 2025, at approximately 2:16 a.m., the Ripley Fire Department, assisted by mutual aid departments, responded to a garage fire at 9499 Route 20. Firefighters worked through the early morning hours to extinguish the blaze.

By 7:40 a.m., the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team arrived on the scene to determine the fire’s origin and cause. Their investigation revealed that the fire was accidental, caused by a malfunction in the underground electrical service where it entered the garage.

No injuries were reported, but the fire tragically claimed a significant quantity of livestock, including chickens, ducks, turkeys, and a dog.
