(WNY News Now) – A residential structure fire on Old Chautauqua Rd. in the Town of Gerry was ruled accidental after an investigation by the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team.
Gerry, N.Y. – On January 20, 2025, at approximately 3:01 PM, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team responded to a structure fire on Old Chautauqua Rd. in the Town of Gerry. The team conducted a thorough investigation to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
The investigation revealed that the fire originated from a wood stove used to heat part of the residence. Officials determined the fire to be accidental in nature.
The sole occupant of the home, 75-year-old Charles E. Austin, sustained minor burns in the incident. He was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment and later released.
