(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old Westfield resident faces multiple charges, including DWI and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, after a vehicle rollover early Saturday morning.
WESTFIELD, NY — The Westfield Police Department, in coordination with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department and Westfield Fire Department, responded to a reported vehicle rollover at the intersection of Pearl Street and Clinton Street in the Village of Westfield on January 18, 2025, at approximately 1:26 AM.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a heavily damaged vehicle that had struck a street sign and utility pole. The driver had fled the scene on foot but was later located at her nearby residence.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Brooklyn M. Bane, admitted to operating the vehicle and leaving the accident site. Authorities allege that Bane was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and sustained injuries as a result.
Following further investigation, Bane was arrested and charged with multiple violations, including:
- Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) (NYS VTL 1192[3])
- Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident Without Reporting (NYS VTL 600[2][A])
- Speed Not Reasonable or Prudent (NYS VTL 1180[A])
- Open Container Violation (NYS VTL 1227[1])
- Failure to Use a Designated Lane (NYS VTL 1128[1])
Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues. The case is scheduled to proceed in Westfield Village Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
