(WNY News Now) – A Falconer man faces multiple charges after a single-vehicle accident on Quaint Road revealed he was driving while intoxicated, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Poland, N.Y. – On Saturday, January 25, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident on Quaint Road in the Town of Poland. Deputies identified the driver as 54-year-old James D. McGrath of Falconer, New York.

An investigation at the scene determined that McGrath was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Authorities also charged him with driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent and failing to stop at a stop sign.

McGrath was transported by EMS to UPMC Jamestown for evaluation following the accident. He is scheduled to appear in Poland Town Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
