(WNY News Now) – CHAUTAUQUA, NY – A Pennsylvania man faces multiple charges, including felony DWI, after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash in the Town of Chautauqua.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a single-vehicle property damage accident at the intersection of East Chautauqua Street and Honeysette Road on January 31 at approximately 4:29 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver had left the scene but later located him nearby.

The driver, identified as 43-year-old Chad Gantz of Union City, PA, was found to be intoxicated. Further investigation revealed that Gantz was unlicensed, operating a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device, and consuming alcohol in the vehicle.

Gantz was taken into custody and charged with felony DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, unlicensed operation, operating out of ignition interlock restrictions, failure to maintain lane, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Following processing, Gantz was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
