(WNY News Now) – The NEW Pride Agenda condemns President Trump’s “Ending Radical Indoctrination” order, calling it a harmful attack on transgender youth, educators, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

New York, NY – The NEW Pride Agenda, a statewide organization advocating for the economic, health, racial, and gender justice needs of marginalized LGBTQIA+ individuals in New York State, issued the following statement from Interim Executive Director Kei Williams in response to President Trump’s “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling” Executive Order:

“President Trump’s executive order is a direct and dangerous assault on transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) youth, educators, and the broader LGBTQIA+ community. This administration’s relentless attempts to police identities, restrict freedoms, and undermine dignity are not just discriminatory—they are fundamentally un-American.”

“New York has long been a beacon of safety and equality, thanks to tireless advocacy and strong legal protections. But silence in the face of these attacks is complicity. Proclaimed as a ‘safe haven’ state, we now need our leaders to meet the moment with action. That means fully implementing our shield laws, investing in the health and wellness of TGNC communities, and responding to these threats with the urgency they demand.”

“Let us be clear: these unconstitutional attempts to tie federal funding to the suppression of bodily autonomy and privacy violate fundamental rights—and they will not stand. These attacks may begin with those at the margins, but their harm extends to us all.”
