(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, NY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the western Southern Tier, effective from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
According to the advisory, mixed precipitation is expected, with snow and sleet accumulations of an inch or less and ice accumulations around one-tenth of an inch. These conditions could lead to slippery roadways and hazardous travel, particularly during the Thursday morning commute.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra time for travel. The NWS advises that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain may reduce visibility and create dangerous driving conditions.
Residents are encouraged to report snow and ice conditions through the NWS website or social media.
