(WNY News Now) – Kenmore, NY – Dhakari K. Allen, 27, of Kenmore, pleaded guilty today to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a Class “A-II” felony, following a multi-agency narcotics investigation.
The guilty plea comes after a thorough investigation into narcotics sales, led by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. Allen’s arrest occurred on July 15, 2024, when law enforcement officers observed him leave his Kenmore residence and travel to a fast-food restaurant on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo. During a subsequent transaction with another individual, investigators spotted a quantity of suspected narcotics in plain view on the front seat of Allen’s vehicle. The substance, later confirmed by the Erie County Central Police Services laboratory, tested positive for cocaine.
Later that day, investigators executed a search warrant at Allen’s home on Lincoln Boulevard in Kenmore, where they recovered additional cocaine, packaging materials, a cutting agent, and cash. These items were also submitted for lab analysis, confirming the presence of cocaine.
Allen now faces up to 10 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for May 12, 2025. Despite the prosecution’s request for detention pending sentencing, Allen remains out on previously posted bail.
Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane praised the joint efforts of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics/Intelligence Unit, Kenmore Police Department, and Erie County Central Police Services laboratory for their role in the investigation and successful conviction.
The case was handled by Assistant District Attorney Briana R. D. Kalman of the Narcotics/Intelligence Bureau.
