(WNY News Now) – ELLERY, N.Y. — A Bemus Point man was arrested late Saturday night for driving while intoxicated following a single-vehicle accident on Route 430 in the Town of Ellery.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash around 11:35 p.m. on February 8, 2025. The driver, identified as 46-year-old Drew C. Whidden, was found to be intoxicated. Further investigation determined his blood alcohol content (BAC) was .18 or higher.

Whidden was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Aggravated DWI (BAC .18 or higher), and Moving from Lane Unsafely. He is scheduled to appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
