(WNY News Now) – A ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 11 will unveil Central Ave CoWork, a shared office space dedicated to boosting collaboration and innovation among Chautauqua County nonprofits.

DUNKIRK – A new coworking space for nonprofits is set to open Tuesday with a ribbon cutting at the United Ways of Chautauqua County’s Dunkirk office.

UWCC raises, invests and leverages approximately $1.8 million dollars annually in philanthropic contributions toward community impact and, as of 2025, will also be leveraging its physical footprint for the same mission-driven cause.

The agency’s office on Central Ave was recently converted into a shared working space and hub for practical collaboration and innovation.

In addition to remaining a space for United Way’s operations in northern Chautauqua County, Central Ave CoWork will include a private office, two semi-private cubicles, two hot seats and a meeting room accessible for use by any nonprofit serving Chautauqua County. The private office and cubicles will be leased annually to long-term tenants, while the hot seats and meeting room will be available through an online scheduling tool.

The ribbon cutting is set for 1pm on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at the new Central Ave CoWork, located at 626 Central Avenue.

“This is a strategic investment in the nonprofit organizations serving Chautauqua County,” said Katie Castro, UWCC Director of Advancement. “Nonprofit coworking is a proven model that maximizes resources, encourages networking and enhances collaboration. By sharing office space, organizations can reduce costs and cultivate new partnerships – all while ensuring the best use of donor dollars.”

Research indicates that coworking environments drive innovation, and United Way anticipates that Central Ave CoWork will spark new ideas and initiatives among Chautauqua County’s nonprofit sector.

As a mobilization engine for social good in the community, United Way mobilizes thousands to action each year from all sectors — individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations and governments — to create long-term social change for a thriving Chautauqua County.

The development of Central Ave CoWork was made possible through the generous support of the Ralph C. Sheldon Foundation and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, whose grants funded the renovations and infrastructure upgrades necessary to retrofit United Way’s Dunkirk office into a dynamic coworking environment.

United Way invites community members, nonprofit leaders, and stakeholders to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and explore how Central Ave CoWork can serve as a resource for their organizations.
