(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown led to the arrest of a local man on drug possession charges Thursday afternoon.
According to police, officers from the Second Platoon conducted a vehicle stop near Prather Avenue and Broadhead Avenue at approximately 4:37 p.m. on February 7. During the investigation, the vehicle’s sole occupant, Austin R. Karash, 30, was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine.
Karash was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.
In accordance with New York State bail reform regulations, Karash was processed and released on an appearance ticket, requiring him to return to Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
