(WNY News Now) – Redhouse, NY – A Friendship man was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) early Thursday morning after he called authorities for assistance when his vehicle went off the road.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler A. Shawley, 24, contacted dispatch at approximately 3:49 a.m. on February 6, 2025, after his vehicle became stuck in a ditch along I-86 West in the Town of Redhouse. Deputies responded to the scene and, following an investigation, determined Shawley was intoxicated.

Shawley was taken into custody and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, where he provided a chemical breath test sample that registered nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08% blood alcohol concentration (BAC). He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated Per Se, Uninspected Motor Vehicle, and Moving from Lane Unsafely.

Shawley was released with an appearance ticket and multiple traffic citations. He is scheduled to appear in Redhouse Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
