(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties, effective until 7 a.m. Friday, February 14.

Hazardous Conditions Expected

A mix of precipitation is forecast to transition into snow by Thursday afternoon, bringing potentially dangerous travel conditions. Key details include:

  • Today: Up to one inch of snow and one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation.
  • Thursday Afternoon & Night: 4 to 7 inches of additional snow expected.
  • Winds: Gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph, increasing the risk of downed tree branches and isolated power outages.
  • Travel Impact: Hazardous road conditions may affect both the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution on slippery roads, reduce speed, and remain vigilant for rapid changes in visibility and conditions. The public is encouraged to report snow and ice conditions via the NWS website or social media.
