(WNY News Now) – An Ohio woman was arrested for snowmobiling while intoxicated and several other offenses after a traffic stop in Chautauqua on February 15, 2025.

On the evening of February 15, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Chautauqua County Snowmobile Patrol officers stopped Cynthia L. Wasson, a 50-year-old resident of Fairlawn, Ohio, for operating a snowmobile without a helmet on Trail C4 near 43 W Lake Rd in the Town of Chautauqua.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Wasson was operating the snowmobile while under the influence of alcohol. Further checks revealed that the snowmobile she was operating was not only unregistered, but also uninsured, violating several state regulations.

As a result of these findings, Wasson was arrested and issued citations for the following charges:

  • Operating a Snowmobile While Intoxicated (PRHPL 25.24-1(c))
  • Operating a Snowmobile Without a Helmet (PRHPL 25.17-5)
  • Operating an Unregistered Snowmobile (VTL 2222.1)
  • Operating an Uninsured Snowmobile (Title 9 NYCRR 377.1(k)(2))

Wasson was released with citations and is scheduled to appear before the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
