(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. – A Jamestown man has been charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree arson, following a fire at a local business.

According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, officers responded to a report of a suspicious fire at an Ellicott business on February 11 at approximately 6:19 p.m. Investigators allege that Ronald C. Greene Jr., 34, entered the store during business hours and intentionally set a fire inside the building.

Following an investigation, officers identified Greene as the suspect and took him into custody a short time later. In addition to arson in the second degree, he was charged with third-degree criminal tampering, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Greene was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for a centralized arraignment and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
